A painter who needed to sell her work, not just display it.
Bianca Batlle-Nguema was born in Barcelona in 1980, daughter of a Barcelonan father and a Guinean mother. Her work explores the identity of a mixed-race woman in a white society, a path that reconnects with collective African memory: skin, hair, the curves of the body, the voice — everything that speaks of a long journey walked by her ancestors.
Each piece is, in her own words, a way of honouring her foremothers and contributing to the healing of their trauma. She needed a platform able to present each series with that same intention, and to sell her original work directly, instead of a website that only displayed it.
